At UR Nuts, we do one thing really well, and we do it with purpose. We start with raw, premium-quality nuts and roast them onsite daily in small batches using only dry heat, never oils! It's a process that keeps the flavor pure, the crunch just right, and the nutrition intact. It's also a nod to doing things the long way, which is usually the right way!
Our downtown Frederick shop brings back the charm of old-school snack counters, where bins are filled with roasted peanuts, cashews, almonds, and house-made blends. But beyond the nuts, we offer something more: a space built on joy, nostalgia, and community. And yes, a little mischief too, courtesy of our official mascot, Chippy the Chipmunk, who brings smiles, sass, and a little nutty wisdom to everything we do.
You'll also find an ever-growing lineup of nut-inspired merchandise, including cuddly plush toys, quirky collectible figurines, funny and heartfelt greeting cards, exclusive UR Nuts gear, and gifts featuring Chippy’s unmistakably cheeky little face. It's all part of building something bigger than snacks. This is about craft. It's about connection. And it's a little bit about celebrating the courage to go nuts!
Our Story
2022 — The Spark
After discovering Frederick in 2022, we knew we had found something special. A historic downtown full of life, diversity, and heart, just 45 minutes from 6.5 million people. It was the perfect place to bring a bold new idea to life!
2023 — Finding the Perfect Space
We searched for months to find the ideal storefront with beautiful glass windows, great foot traffic, and the right size to build something truly unique and welcoming.
2024 — All Local, All In
We teamed up with a dream team of Frederick locals: architect Marty Bates, attorney David Weaver, designer Jon Weaver, CCS Contractors, local tradespeople, and Woodsboro Bank. Together we kicked off a full renovation of one of downtown's original historic buildings!
2025 — Learning the Craft
We partnered with a long-standing West Virginia nut shop to learn the art of nut roasting, secured our antique and modern roasters, and perfected our process to deliver the freshest nuts possible.
August 2025 — Grand Opening
UR Nuts opened its doors. Come see what we've been building, and taste the difference fresh-roasted nuts and a little bit of crazy passion can make!
June 2026 — Taking UR Nuts Online
After hearing “When can we order online?” more times than we could count, we finally launched our website—and you all made it a hit right out of the gate!
August 2026 — Our First Year
We celebrated one full year in business, perfected our recipes, grew our team to five people, and learned more than we ever expected along the way!
